As I’m sure you’ll know, it was Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday celebration recently. In fact, there was an official ‘Roald Dahl Day’ on September the 13th 2016, to mark this momentous day. There were plenty of festivities happening around the country, from school children getting dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character, to the ‘Wonderman’ production which was a unique gig-theatre take on Roald Dahl’s stories for adults. This was at The National Theatre in Cardiff, Wales from September the 13th to the 18th and had rave reviews. Which is your favourite Roald Dahl character?
In other children’s fiction news, I read today that there will be anthology released to mark the 90th birthday of ‘Winnie-The-Pooh’! If that wasn’t exciting enough then this book, titled ‘Winnie-the Pooh, The Best Bear in All the World’, (due for publication by Egmont on 6th October) will contain a brand new character! ‘Penguin’, (for indeed that is his name!) was created by author Brian Sibley and his ‘Winter’ story features in this anthology.
